September -- 7:00am to 6:00pm -- Farmers and Artists Market -- A Non-profit community Farmers and Artists Market 7 days a week at the Sunshine Station. This is a great drive from Las Vegas or Pecos to exit 323 off I-25. After you have shopped at the Market there are other fun things to do further up on Highway 3; such as San Miguel de Vado Church, La Risa Cafe, Madison Winery, Villanueva State Park and more. September 2 through 5 -- Bean Day -- Bean Day is a very popular event for everyone that lives in the northeast region of New Mexico. There are rodeos, bands in the park, a dance on Saturday night and on Labor Day a BBQ with plenty of beans. There will be a parade, BBQ, and rodeo on the last day. No wonder this is so popular! September 3 & 4 -- 10:00am to 5:00pm -- Cleveland Roller Millfest -- The Event is a fun filled weekend for the entire family. The Cleveland Roller Mill is located 5-6 miles northwest of Mora, NM on State Hwy 518. The Cleveland Mill is the last and largest of the mills built in the Mora Valley and has been restored to operating condition and serves as a museum. During the event the mill will be in operation. There will be live music, food vendors, arts and crafts booths, children's activities and much more. There are 3 tours daily at 11:30am; 1:30pm; and 3:30 pm. Cost is Free into arts, crafts and entertainment area, and nominal admission into Museum. Parking $2 per vehicle. September 10 -- Second Saturday Artwalk 2011 -- Second Saturday ArtWalk celebrates Las Vegas as a state designated Arts & Cultural District featuring Open Studios, Galleries, Readings, Live Music & more. Visit galleries, shops and restaurants in historic downtown Las Vegas. Enjoy the work of over 75 artists, including local painters, sculptors, jewelry designers, graphic designers, photographers, musicians, interior designers, writers, poets, santeros, media artists and graffiti artists. The ArtWalk is a monthly, authentic grassroots community art event presented by the artists, residents and businesses of Las Vegas. September 10 -- 11:00am to 2:00pm -- Sabor de Las Vegas -- This is a fun event sponsored by the Las Vegas First Independent Business Alliance. Many of the local restaurants prepare and serve tasting's of their special menu items at the Old Plaza Park. Ticket are sold in a set of 7 tickets for $10. September 15 -- 7:00pm -- Glimpses of the Past: -- Fort Union National Monument, National Park Service announces its’ monthly “Glimpses of the Past” presentation. Join Fort Union, Santa Fe Trail Interpretive Center, and CCHP located at 116 Bridge Street in Las Vegas for these monthly presentations that encompass the bountiful natural, cultural, and historical resources of the Southwest. September 16 -- 7:00pm -- Glimpses of the Past: “Respecting the Traditions” -- Fort Union National Monument, National Park Service announces its’ monthly “Glimpses of the Past” presentation. Join the CCHP and Santa Fe Interpretive Center for a presentation on Native American Art by Nanibaa Beck entitled "Respecting the Traditions: A Glimpse at current works by Native American Artists. September 17 -- 9:00am to 1:00pm -- Health Fair -- Alta Vista Regional Hospital (AVRH) is once again sponsoring its annual community-wide Health Fair at the Abe Montoya Recreation Center Gymnasium and extends an invitation to area health care providers, consumer advocates and groups, social service organizations, faith leaders, voluntary organizations and school districts to participate. To facilitate the hospital’s planning, interested organizations are asked to submit a registration form no later than Friday, September 2. September 17 -- 7:30am -- Second Annual AVRH Health Run -- Alta Vista Regional Hospital announces the first annual 5K run/walk as part of the annual health fair event. The 5K run/walk will begin at the San Miguel County Fair Grounds and end at the Plaza Park. The entry fee for the 5K run/walk is twenty dollars. Entry forms are available at the Abe Montoya Recreation Center, Alta Vista Regional Hospital and affiliated physician clinics in Las Vegas. Same day registration will close at 7:15 a.m. the day of the 5K run/walk. Awards will be given in each age division for female and male participants. September 24 & 25 -- 10:00am to 1:00pm -- Pecos Valley Artists Studio Tour -- The artists of Pecos will open their studio doors to welcome visitors. All are invited to the lovely village of Pecos and Rowe to enjoy the beautiful autumn scenery. Pecos now has a farmer’s market every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., so make a stop at the farmer’s market for fresh produce, home baked goods and coffee; a great way to begin the tour. Maps and brochures will be available in mailboxes at both Pecos I-25 exits. The artists will also have maps and brochures at their studios. September 24 -- 10:00am, 11:30am, and 1:00pm -- Fort Union: First Fort and Arsenal Tours -- Travel back to 1851 and take part in a ranger guided tour around the site where Fort Union first stood guard across the plains.
