July 2 through 5 -- 122st Annual Fiestas de Las Vegas -- This is Las Vegas oldest and most colorful event which highlights culture and celebration. There are parades, arts and crafts booths, food vendors, live music, dancing in the streets, veterans' events, fireworks and much more. Most events take place at the Plaza Park. July 2 through 5 -- 7th Annual Art Show -- Pendaries Art League will be sponsoring their 7th Annual Art Show with a reception on Friday, July 2 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am to 5:00pm. This is a great event with lots of fine artist showing their best. The drive and the views are wonderful, so take the time to make this event.

July 2 -- Team Roping -- The event will be held at the Santa Fe Trail Event Center located on the corner of Airport Road and Hwy 50. This is an exciting event and fun for the entire family. July 3 -- 7:00am to Sellout -- Farmers’ Market -- The Farmers’ Market is starting the 2010 season on Saturdays from 7:00am until sellout. The location remains the same at University and 6th Street. There is always a variety of produce from several local growers. There are lots of plants as well: flowers, herbs, vegetable starters and tomato plants. A new banner for Farmers’ Market has been ordered thanks to the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce. Watch for it on Bridge Street soon!

July 4 -- 2010 Las Vegas (NM) Fiesta Memorial Run -- The 2010 Las Vegas Fiesta Memorial Run includes a 5K walk, a 5K run, 10K run, and a one mile children's run. Last year more than 300 runners, including 100 children, took part in the fiesta event. The race features not only a friendly family atmosphere but also uses state-of-the-art computer-chip timing for speed and accuracy. Organizers view the memorial run as one of the healthiest features of the Las Vegas Fourth of July Fiesta celebrations. July 7 & 8 -- 6:00pm -- Dinner Theater at the Plaza Hotel -- Dinner Theater for Mozart’s First Opera, ‘Bastien and Bastienne’ will take place at the Historic Plaza Hotel-Ilfeld Ballroom. $30 per ticket. July 9 & 10 -- North/South All Star Games -- The North/South All Star Games attract locals from Las Vegas and families from all over the state. The girls basketball teams will play at Wilson Gym at 6:00pm on July 9 and the boys basketball team will play at 8:00 pm on the same day. July 10 -- Second Saturday Artwalk 2010 -- Now in its third year the monthly Artwalk features Open Studios, Galleries, Readings, Live Music & more. Visit open studios in historic neighborhoods, plus galleries, shops and restaurants downtown. Enjoy the work of over 75 artists, including local painters, sculptors, jewelry designers, graphic designers, photographers, musicians, interior designers, writers, poets, santeros, media artists and graffiti artists. The Artwalk is a monthly, authentic grassroots community art event presented by the artists, residents and businesses of Las Vegas. Events will include: Barrels, Poles, Flag & Scurbie Race, Steer Stopping, Breakaway, Steer Dobbing, Parent/Child Team Roping, and many others. Entry Fees: Speed events $10, stock events $15, one-time awards fee $25 per contestant. Daily cash paybacks!!! Concessions on site. July 17 -- 9:00am to 4:00pm -- First Fort Tour -- There were two other forts built before the present one in the same area. This is the only time during the year that the First Fort site is open to the public. Guided tours are given approximately 4 times during the day. July 21 through September 1 -- 2:30am to 4:30pm -- ART CLASS: Introduction to the 7 Elements of ART by Nancy Philo -- Classes are open to ages 11 to 90, and are non-competitive and geared to individual ability. The first class is: Introduction to the 7 Elements of ART- line, shape, form, color, space, texture, value with projects emphasizing basic drawing skills. Space is limited to 8 students/must have at least 5 to run. This is a 7 week course beginning on Wednesday, July 21. Come and allow yourself the time to study with Nancy and enjoy the process. July 23 through 25 -- Fifth Annual Rough Rider Motorcycle Rally de Las Vegas -- The Motorcycle Rally hosts many events, including a Poker Run, a Tattoo Contest, Bike Show, the Biker Rodeo and much more. There will be a variety of food vendors and live music at the Historical Plaza Park. Las Vegas and the surrounding area offers many types of activities such as exploring 900 plus historical buildings, rides in the National Forest and sampling some of the best northern New Mexico cuisine at our local restaurants. July 24 -- Support Young People's Theatre -- TeatroJoven~YoungTheatre will be producing THE RAINBOW: A Sioux Indian Story. 12-14 children will engage in ART, GAMES and ACTING CLASS. Beginning June 21st for 5 weeks, three 4 hour days a week, in preparation for the show. We seek sponsors for the production and perhaps a volunteer or two. Donations will provide scholarships for some special kids to take part and help with production costs. July 26 through August 3 -- 8:00am to 5:30pm -- Aerie Backcountry Medicine - Wilderness First Responder Course -- The Wilderness First Responder course is a 72-hour medic course that focuses on the diagnosis and stabilization of injuries that occur more than two hours from hospital or ambulance. All of the information can be transferred to common everyday injuries as well. Those who complete this course will earn a national certification that is a standard requirement for many outdoor-based jobs such as summer camps, schools, wilderness guides, ski patrols, etc. Location: United World College in Montezuma, NM. July 26 through 31 -- The Missoula Children's Theatre -- The nations largest children's theatre is returning to Las Vegas with a production of King Arthurs Quest. This will be an exciting and rewarding experience for young people from the first grade through high school to participate in. Nothing prepared will be required for auditions beginning on July 26th at 10:00am and after casting. Rehearsal will begin at 10:00am and will last until 2:30pm. This rehearsal schedule will continue each day for the rest of the week. The production will be held at 7:00pm at Ilfeld auditorium on Saturday July 31.
