Every Saturday through October -- Bridge Street & Plaza Area Tours -- Every Saturday through October, there will be one hour tours of Bridge Street and the Plaza. The tours begin at CCHP located at 116 Bridge Street and cost $10. For time and more information, please call (505)425-8803.

September 3 -- 7:00pm -- UWC Guest Speaker -- Writer Stephen Fried, Fred Harvey biographer, will speak at the United World College in the Castle lobby about his Harvey book, "Appetite for America". If you are a Fred Harvey fan, or want to know more about the civilizing of the west, this is a "must" read. For more information call (505) 454-4206.

September 3 through 6 -- Bean Day -- Bean Day is a very popular event for everyone that lives in the northeast region of New Mexico. It begins on Saturday the 4th with a rodeo and dance, and continues through the weekend with another dance Sunday night, and ends on Monday the 6th with a parade, BBQ with plenty of beans and the last Rodeo. September 4 -- 7:00am to Sellout -- Farmers’ Market -- The Farmers’ Market is starting the 2010 season on Saturdays from 7:00am until sellout. The location remains the same at University and 6th Street. There is always a variety of produce from several local growers. There are lots of plants as well: flowers, herbs, vegetable starters and tomato plants. A new banner for Farmers’ Market has been ordered thanks to the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce. Watch for it on Bridge Street soon!

September 4 & 5 -- 10:00am to 5:00pm -- Cleveland Roller Millfest -- The Event is a fun filled weekend for the entire family. The Cleveland Roller Mill is located 5-6 miles northwest of Mora, NM on State Hwy 518. The Cleveland Mill is the last and largest of the mills built in the Mora Valley and has been restored to operating condition and serves as a museum. During the event the mill will be in operation. There will be live music, food vendors, arts and crafts booths, children's activities and much more. There are 3 tours daily at 11:30am; 1:30pm; and 3:30 pm. Cost is Free into arts, crafts and entertainment area, and nominal admission into Museum. Parking $2 per vehicle. September 11 -- Second Saturday Artwalk 2010 -- Now in its third year the monthly Artwalk features Open Studios, Galleries, Readings, Live Music & more. Visit open studios in historic neighborhoods, plus galleries, shops and restaurants downtown. Enjoy the work of over 75 artists, including local painters, sculptors, jewelry designers, graphic designers, photographers, musicians, interior designers, writers, poets, santeros, media artists and graffiti artists. The Artwalk is a monthly, authentic grassroots community art event presented by the artists, residents and businesses of Las Vegas. September 11 -- 11:00am to 2:00pm -- Sabor de Las Vegas -- This is a fun event sponsored by the Las Vegas First Independent Business Alliance. Many of the local restaurants prepare and serve tasting's of their special menu items at the Old Plaza Park. Ticket are sold in a set of 7 tickets for $10. September 19 -- Noon to 6:00pm -- "Concert for the Birds and Kids Fun in Nature Day" -- This sounds like a wonderful day for the entire family. There will be a kids show and a concert for the birds by Robert Mondragon. There are many other evetns such as a kids nature hike, pinata, kids horse drawn wagon rides and much more. September 24 through 26 -- Las Vegas 175th Anniversary Celebration -- A very special event celebrating the 175th founding of Las Vegas. Activities will be happening all over town at different venues, so come and help us celebrate Las Vegas's founding and future! Events will include a children's village, arts & crafts village, youth talent contests, athletic competitions, entertainment galore, community matanza, cowboy special, senior events and much more. September 25 -- 9:00am to 4:00pm -- First Fort Tour -- In recognition of National Public Lands day, Fort Union National Monument will present it's first fort tour. There were two other forts built before the present one in the same area. This is the only time during the year that the First Fort site is open to the public. Guided tours are given approximately 4 times during the day. Fort Union National Park is located 26 miles north of Las Vegas off Interstate 25. September 25 -- 9:30am to 3:00pm -- Pecos 11th Annual Dia del Rio -- This event begins at the parking lot of the Bank of Pecos, Pecos, NM. It includes a blessing at the Pecos River, refreshments, trash pick up along the river, Bar-B-Que at noon, free T-shirts for participants, music and much more. September 25 & 26 -- 10:00am to 5:00pm -- Celebrate Pecos Valley Art Studio Tour -- Fall colors are the perfect setting for the 13th Celebrate Pecos Valley Art Studio Tour. Maps of the tour will be available at both the Glorieta and Pecos exit and the Rowe and Pecos exit off Inter-state 25. More maps will also be available at the Beloved Pecos Gallery on State 63 (Main Street) across from Saint Anthony's Catholic Church. Artists that do not have their own studio will be set up at the Beloved Pecos Gallery. Many types of art will be on display including fiber, jewelry, oil, acrylic, pin and ink and much more.
