How Our Unit Is Organized

The New Mexico Highlands University Faculty Association was established as the recognized bargaining unit of full-time tenure and tenure-track faculty at NMHU in 1997. It is associated in a collaborative relationship with both NEA and AFT.

Shortly after we began the collective bargaining process, then-Governor Gary Johnson allowed the New Mexico collective bargaining law to sunset. The collective bargaining law was re-constituted in July of 2003, and we are now in the process of proceeding with collective bargaining.

At our September 25th, 2003 meeting we elected a slate of officers and tentatively named six members to a bargaining team. They are listed at the bottom of this page.

You can read our constitution and by-laws here.

Dues to join the Association are currently $34.65 a month. You may elect to have your dues automatically withdrawn from your bank account.
