The Cleveland Roller Mill is located 5-6 miles northwest of Mora, NM on State Hwy 518. The Cleveland Mill is the last and largest of the mills built in the Mora Valley and has been restored to operating condition and serves as a museum. During the event the mill will be in operation. September 5 through 7 -- Bean Day -- Bean Day is a very popular event for everyone that lives in the northeast region of New Mexico. It begins on Saturday the 5th with a rodeo and dance and continues through the weekend and ends on Monday the 7th with a parade, BBQ with plenty of beans and the last Rodeo. September 12 -- 7:00pm - 5:00pm -- Free Jewelry Making Demonstration at Tito’s Gallery -- the Las Vegas Arts Council will sponsor a benefit organ concert at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Las Vegas. The cost per ticket is $20. In addition to performances on the organ, the event will also feature numerous local performing artists such as Daniel Jencka, Birdie Jaworski, Carl Bernstein, Andre Garcia-Nuthmann as well as the NNHU Faculty Brass Quintet, and more. The purpose of the benefit performance is to provide funds to repair and maintain the pipe organ at Our Lady of Sorrows. This organ is one of the oldest continuously functioning organs in the Southwest. It dates from 1885 and while still making beautiful music, it is badly in need of repair. September 26 -- 11:00am & 1:30pm -- First Fort Tours at Fort Union National Monument -- In honor of volunteers and volunteerism on National Public Lands Day, Fort Union National Monument, National Park Service will host two special public tours of the First Fort Union site (circa 1851-1861). Visitors are urged to arrive at the visitor center at least 15 minutes before the start of each tour. Visitors should dress comfortably, wear sturdy walking shoes and be able to walk and stand on uneven dirt surfaces. Accommodations for handicap accessibility at this site is limited. On this day, all national parks including Fort Union National Monument will waive entrance fees. Artists from around the globe will converge to present an exciting world premiere on the United World College (UWC) campus. Titled “All of Us: Unity and Fragmentation,” the piece will showcase five giant puppets, made and worked by UWC theatre arts students. This promises to be a unique multi-media event, which explores weighty issues in a stunning environment, whilst showcasing the work of outstanding artists from around the world. It will be performed next to the Sasakawa Center on the lower campus of UWC-USA. Admission is FREE, and everybody (and their friends) is warmly welcomed. Performance lasts approximately twelve minutes.
