June 3 -- 7:30pm -- “Cineflix in Ilfeld” featuring “He's Just not that into you” -- This event is held at the Historic Ilfeld Auditorium on the campus of New Mexico Highlands University. June 6 -- 8:30am -- Fiesta de San Miguel -- Fiesta events begin with mass at the fiesta grounds and continues throughout the day with raffle prizes, great music, delicious food, old-fashioned dancing, great games, arts and crafts. This is the only time during the year that the First Fort site is open to the public. Guided tours are given approximately 4 times during the day. June 6 -- 5:00pm to 9:00pm -- Pecos River Romp -- The Romp Event is sponsored by the Upper Pecos Watershed Association and it will be held at Frankie's Casanova Restaurant (Corner of Main Street and Hwy 50 in Pecos. June 6 -- 7:30pm -- Silent Auction -- This quilt made by Susan Hayes will be one of the many beautiful items we will have on display at our silent auction happening right before our performance for Las Vegas Children's Dance Theater on Saturday, June 6th, 2009, 7:30pm at Ilfeld Auditorium. Primarily all contemporary dance with two guest appearances, Maia Corissoz and Kate Eberle from Two Women Dancing in Santa Fe. June 11 -- 5:15pm -- Sustainable Las Vegas -- The next meeting of Sustainable Las Vegas (the local chapter of the New Mexico Solar Energy Association) will be Thursday, June 11. Jim Cummings from Acoustic Ecology in Santa Fe and Eileen Mulvihill, a retired molecular biologist from Villaneuva, will talk about the noise associated with Industrial size wind turbines as well as a review of published literature on the health effects of low frequency sound. June 12 through 14 -- 6:00pm -- The Nat Gold Players -- The Nat Gold Players will be presenting the Fantasticks by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, the world's longest playing musical. The presentation will take place at the newly renovated Plaza Hotel Ballroom. This a dinner theater production featuring a pasta bar and salad from 6:00pm to 7:15pm and the show at 7:30pm. The story of the transformation of a noted surgeon into a painter is a fascinating one. Dr. Thal impacted the lives of many people in Las Vegas and the surrounding areas during his time there.
