Action & Adventure, Starring Christian Bale, Heath Ledger. Batman (Christian Bale) teams with Lt. James Gordon (Gary Coleman) and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) to continue dismantling Gotham City’s criminal organizations in this sequel to Batman Begins. But a psychotic new villain known as the Joker (Heath Ledger, in a golden Globe-winning role) threatens to undo all their good work. Rated PG for intense sequences of violence and some menace. February 6 -- 7:30pm -- Cineflix in Ilfeld featuring 'The Secret Life of Bees' -- Event takes place in the HIstoric Ilfeld auditorium located on the NMHU Campus. Haunted by the death of her Mother, 14-year old Lily (Dakota Fanning) escapes the dreary life she lives on her father’s farm and heads to Tiburon, S.C. with her friend and care giver, Rosaleen (Jennifer Hudson), setting off on a life-changing journey of self-discovery. Set amidst the hotbed of racial tensions in the South in the 1960’s. Rated PG-13 for thematic material and some violence. Admission is FREE and open to the public. February 7 -- 11:00am to 4:00pm -- Sustainable Las Vegas -- The local chapter of the New Mexico Solar Energy Association is sponsoring a Solar Homes Tour. Three Las Vegas residences will be featured as Solar Open Houses. The tour is free and open to the public. For maps and addresses, go to Corner Brew Coffee Bar in the El Fidel Hotel. Each is a retrofitted house: an historic adobe and a turn-of-the century stone house, both with greenhouse additions. The third house is a 50s ranch-style house with various sustainable features, ranging from a chicken tractor to solar water and photo-voltaic installations. February 12 -- 5:15pm -- Sustainable Las Vegas (February Meeting) -- The local chapter of the New Mexico Solar Energy Association meeting take place at the Digital Arts Photography Studio, located at 428-A Grand Avenue (second floor), Las Vegas, NM. We will be brainstorming with Joe Cooney about rebuilding his burned-out building on Douglas Avenue, using energy-efficient and solar energy features. Raoul Duke (Johnny Depp) and his lawyer (Benicio Del Toro) cross the Nevada Desert in a convertible crammed w/every conceivable form of hallucinogenics. Their psychedelic night-mare complete w/ flying bats and trash filled bath tubs is stunning depicted. (Our technical director’s pick!) Determined to reverse the spell, Sophie seeks the help of the wizard Howl, who has an amazing moving castle that’s fueled by a fire demon named Calicifer.
